I love this place and have been going for about 5 years now. Love the dinner for two! It's perfect for 2 parents and a 3 year old..and we still have left overs. The gazpacho s amazing. I look forward to t every summer. I would love to know who makes the cookie dough for their fresh baked cookies, they are delicious. Service is always great. One time my pasta was a little too al Dente for me and no problem fixed it right away.

What wonderful dishes they create. Their roasted tomato soup is the BEST! Make sure you have a coconut chocolate chip cookie for dessert! I've never had a disappointing meal here......

NB is my hometown, and I've been eating at Brewsters for years. For lunch, I love a big salad (Queen Margherita) and the tomato bisque. I also enjoy their frittata and the lunch portion pastas are great portions. For me, the highlight is the salad dressing - a delicious creamy balsamic vinaigrette that is just totally excellent. The way to do Brewsters for dinner is to do the dinner for two; you get salads or soup, a pizza to share, and an entree. The salad itself is pretty great, soup usually good also. The pizzas are not super large, but they are wood-fired and delicious with premium ingredients. The tri-colored tortellini is edible but nothing special; there's a ton of garlic which makes it imbalanced in my opinion. However, I enjoy the chicken in cream sauce and the marinara sauce is good, too; the entrees vary from time to time, . Anyway, the dinner for two also comes with tasty cookies and coffee, which is a nice way to finish a meal. This is not a quick place generally speaking - it's a more leisurely meal. They also have really good coffee, bloody marys, and a nice creme brulee.

I wish I could tell you how our meal was but we never had the chance. Yes, it's tourist season and yes we expect to wait, however... We called ahead to ask about put our name on the wait list and was told to call back exactly 20 minutes before we plan to arrive and they will. We complied and when we called was told "oh we don't need a wait list its wide open on the patio." When we arrived there was one name on the list ahead of us and we were told it was a 30 minute wait and we should have called ahead - you see where this is going right? We went to the bar and had fab service from the bartenders, and enjoyed our drinks. There were two tables open the patio mind you. After 35 minutes we asked about our table and was told a few more minutes. After 45 minutes a hostess who def didn't have her wits about her told us it was going to be longer but they could seat is inside now. We had already waited 45 minutes so we certainly did not want to sit inside by the kitchen. At that point I asked another person at the hostess station who said it would be another 30-45 minutes. Now this is a problem - especially after they sat. Not one but TWO groups of six on the patio. Needless to say we were not happy and asked to speak to the owner who said their policy is to seat the larger groups first but she was sorry we didn't like the offer to sit inside which is all they were willing to do for us. Really??How about a policy that treats ALL paying customers fairly regardless of party size. I suppose there are whores in every industry including restaurants.

The atmosphere is nice, warm and inviting. The food was good, but not great. I had the Seafood Pasta and my hubby had the meat lasagna. I wasn't wild about his when I tried it. Mine was very light, and slightly spicy, which I expected. However, aside from the spice it didn't have much flavor. My kiddo had the cheese pizza and liked it. Service was decent, no complaints there. I would go back, but it would not be a first choice.

We go there whenever we are in the area. Love their Pizzas. Grandkids can order a simple one and we can geta fancy one that we can get no where else. Love their desserts especially the one with lemon curd. I love the steak salad. I love the variety. I love that their menu constantly changes. Great place to go. Love all the photos on the wall. You have to go there. What an experience!!!!

Ordered a pizza to take out. It was sitting on front counter for me to pick up. They did nothing to keep pizza warm. Just shoved it in cardboard box. Need to do better job in that respect. Pizza was reheated in home oven and enjoyed.

I was happily surprised by this restaurant. I was expecting a very $$ meal, given its a resort town and from the looks of the outside. But they have this $32 for 2 soups or salads, 1 entree and 1 pizza with a dessert cookie to share deal. The salad was great- no iceberg lettuce ! and a different tarragon dressing- like creamy garlic but very unique. The pizza was too big for 1 person- I took 3 pieces home for later. I got the 4 cheese which was very good. They modified their pasta offering to give my mom exactly hat she wanted- garlic and oil sauce . It was large enough also to take some home. My friends fed themselves and their kids off the entree and pizza- 2 adults and 2 kids- thats how much food it was. I liked the beer selection - some Belgium and even Shorts brewery. which is hard to find. I would definitely go back.

Food was very good. I had the lasagne and my husband had the chicken. We sat on the patio which had a wonderful ambience. Hostess was friendly and the service was good. Would go back next time we are in town.

We popped in very last minute after our initial dinner plans fell though. We called to see if they could take 6 for dinner and they said it would be about 25 minutes but that they'd put our name on the list. By the time we got there our table was ready - great! We sat outside and were attended to by a wonderful server. Food was very good and plentiful, definitely something for everybody. Would highly recommend and would go back without hesitation.

We stumbled upon this place as we were looking for another. Pizza and pasta were amazing. House salad was simple but delicious. Our whole family loved it.

Everything on the menu is made fresh and professionally done. The pastas and salads are excellent but our favorite is the create-your-own wood-fired pizzas. They are a crispy thin crust with fresh ingredients and hand rolled dough. No frozen foods here. Not your typical corporate chain pizza joint. The kids Pasta of the Day with Cheese Sauce will beat any Mac N Cheese you've ever had! Reasonable portions for the price. Their homemade gourmet cookies are so yummy, especially with after dinner coffee. Their tiramisu and lemon cream cake are to die for. Extensive wine list as well as classic and modern Martinis. You won't be disappointed.

Started off with the spinach and artichoke dip... Wow! Amazing! Then soup and salad, very good. Time for pizza and the chicken with cheese stuffed pasta. Absolutely fantastic and the service by Joy was spot on. She was very attentive to us. If only we lived closer (150 miles closer) we would be here once a week. Apparently their menu changes daily, so getting sick of the same old thing is not an option. Which we like. This place is a must!!!

It's gotta be tough to be a restaurant in a resort town because you get so many different kinds of people wandering in and asking inane questions, but Brewster's makes it look easy. We stopped here for lunch, got a really nice table outside on the patio (shaded with trees, tables have umbrellas, and there is even a fountain). If you get a chance, even in July, to sit outside, do it. It has a nice ambiance. We ordered a couple of the salads, one with chicken one without. The food was great, the service was perfect, and the patio is beautiful. Go here, it'll be a nice respite from the fudge shops and t-shirt stores.

Great food. Share a pizza to start. Make sure to save room for house made cookie and coffee. 'Dinner for two' deal is perfect.

  • Shelly S.

My cousin brought me here while I was on vacation for 4th of July. We had my grandma, aunt and 3 cousins and me for a ladies night. I really wanted pasta so I ordered a big bowl of the chicken with ravioli and a Marsala sauce. It was excellent. I should have got the dinner for two but I only read it came with pizza and as I had pizza two nights before I came there I said no. It is a really good deal though and that's what all the other ladies got. It comes with salad, pizza and split a pasta entree and a cookie for dessert. That is a good deal. The server knew my cousin so she was extra nice and we had a great time catching up on family stuff.

Disorganized -- ordered food to go and half my order wasn't even started when I showed up at the time quoted. Ended up waiting another 20 minutes. Got home, salmon was undercooked... Place use to be a lot better (have been going for over 10+ years), not sure what happened to management... might be the last time for Brewsters for us

  • Cheryl K.

Average food overall but the salad was very good. Nothing special tho. Just be sure your ID or license isn't expired. The stickler of a server we had wouldn't serve my bf a drink becasue his license expired 3 months ago. Even tho he is almost 40 years old!! Sorry, that's ridiculous. She could have warned him to get it re newed and served him anyway. What is the point in that? Purpose of not serving drinks to someone is they are under age. Just didn't think the food was great enough to deal with a ridiculous rule like that.

  • Ind W.

Go to restaurant. The pizza and salmon salad make a great meal for two. Most of the time they split the salad for us unasked which is a generous act. Service is always gracious and timely. Larger parties as good as small. There is a comfortable outdoor space to wait during high season busy times, outdoor patio a very pleasant space.

  • Mike B.

Bad experience! Been here a number of times and was OK. This time, Tues, Oct. 7, was NOT good! Over priced, entrees poorly prepared and automatic 20% tip added for a party of "5"! With Chicago prices you expect Chicago quality & service. 3 glasses of wine, one pizza, one dinner for 2 & 2 entrees for $180 was out of line. Won't be back!

    (1)
  • Scott B.

Wow, what a quick staff, friendly and extremely accommodating. Best meal I have had for years and made my wife an extra special Tiramisu that made up for her Birthday mistake I made this year. No need to go to Chicago for a wonderful dinner.

Very nice and warm on this crazy cold night! Good service and food!

  • Steve D.

Great food. Quaint location just off main strip north of intersection. As with most places catering to tourist and p/t crowd service is less than stellar and waits can make it not worthwhile. But, the food has always been consistently above average. During peak times and high season it's best to go elsewhere unless you have no value of your time. But in the off season a great spot to catch lunch.

  • Shay M.

This place is getting 5 stars for the ambiance alone. The outside back patio is absolutely gorgeous for outdoor seating in the summer, secluded and surrounded by pretty plants it was the perfect place for my birthday dinner while here on vacation. The wait was minimal on the 4th of July compared to other restaurants in the area and was totally worth it. Our server was very friendly, and the food and drinks were great.

Visiting from Orlando Fl and was referred by some family from Southbend. The place and atmosphere is nice and cozy, inside and outside. Right on the Main Street of this little lake beach town. The menu was kind of short, not too many options but everything we got was good. I got the pesto ravioli with grilled chicken and it was really good. I'd recommend it, given that there just aren't a whole array of options close by. If you're staying in the area, brewsters is just a bike ride away!

  • Richard A.

We came in really hungry for good Italian. Bread, dinner salad, fresh shredded cheese with olive oil, Yum! Had the Meatballs, Salmon and Tortellini entrees. Yes a bit expensive, but typical for good restaurant in a summer vacation town.

Had a great lunch at Brewster's. Menu changes daily we assumed since the ones we are given had today's date at top. Ordered a seasonal soup -gazpacho and it was excellent, just the right amount of spice. It accompanied my seafood pesto pasta which was very good but not the best I've ever had (oily), but very tasty. Also ordered by our group was the calzone, the Marguerite pizza, and the steak sandwich which was excellent and very hearty. The desserts were to die for, especially the chocolate Royale cookie! Brewster's has an impressive wine menu although we did not order from it.

If I were to judge Brewster's on the food alone I would probably give it more stars. I shared the specialty pizza and it was quite good. We also got the house salad which was nothing special but still was good. I think that everyone enjoyed their meals and there were a variety of other dishes consumed including some of the pasta dishes. Here's why Brewster's lost some stars. We reserved the large private room in advance and were told that there would be a $300 minimum. No problem. We had a large group and knew we'd be able to hit the minimum. If not, we'd get desserts and would be able to get there. With 15 people who were drinking and eating, $20 per person wasn't difficult. When it came time to settle the bill, the waiter told us that we were short of the minimum. We asked what we were at and he told us $350 so we were confused. He was now saying that the minimum was $500. He went to go talk to the manager and came back saying that we were quoted the pre-Memorial Day rate which is $300. Technically we were at dinner on May 25th which WAS pre-Memorial Day so why were we being asked to meet a new minimum? In the end they told us they would "meet in the middle" if we would just get a couple of bottles of wine to go. Our bill ended up adding up to over $500 but only after gratuity and tax were included so apparently that didn't count (and normally it would be the pre-tax and gratuity amount). We were all annoyed because we already had plenty of wine back at the house and now were having to pay restaurant rates to just take more wine home. And let's say that restaurant was confused and did quote us the wrong rate (maybe Memorial Day weekend is really is the start of the new rate) -- shouldn't they have given it to us since it was their mistake? In a small town like New Buffalo, you can probably get away with this kind of service because most people are visiting tourists and you're likely not going to see them again. And, in this case, that is true because I won't be going back to this restaurant.

Celiac traveler review/ Great gluten free pizza. Exceptional service; from the hostess to your waitstaff. The staff makes you feel like family. Aesthetically pleasing to top it off. Will absolutely return.

Thought I would try this place again. Went the other night and sat at the bar. To make a short story shorter the place had an awful sewer smell to it that I lost my appetite and decided to only have a drink then leave.

I have been going to BREWSTER:S since it open almost 20 yrs ago. I was so disappointed to return recently and find that they are charging much more for the same food. The salad used to come with an entree and now it costs $4...Bread is also additional..WHAT GIVES? and $30 for a bowl of PLAIN PASTA..??? come on I understand that the owner has a new boyfriend but should we have to pay more because of this??? I hope that they get back on track soon. Dara is an exceptional waiter but other than that I have no compliments..

I really really enjoy Brewster's and so when I went there at 9:45 pm on Wednesday July 3rd to grab a quick bite (even just an app) before they closed, and was turned away, I was a bit mystified. Its the high summer season and a long holiday weekend and you turn customers away before you close? Poor business decision.

2nd time here at Brewster's in New Buffalo,MI. My first visit was about 2 years ago. Remembered it was awesome. My family and I (party of four), shared their dinners for 2. Each one comes with choice of soup or Salad, which both were good. Next you get a thin pizza, which is just delicious. We had one spinach and sausage, and one margeritha pizza, um so good. Next you get your choice of entrees. We had a sirloin steak dish meant for two, and a chicken dish for two. Very tasty, but portions were more along the size for 1. Also $6 extra to choose chicken and $10 extra for steak. So much gor a deal. Not really a great deal when sharing the meal for two. As far as the ambience, best seating is the outside patio. Just great. Inside you sit in a small table by the kitchen or by the bar which had a very funny odor in this room. Patio is the way to go. As far as service our waitress was just the best. Very attentive, friendly and could not ask for better service. Reason for only 3 stars was price and food portions. Just did not live up to my expectations of my first visit here.

What a downturn. Rumor is the family in ownership is fighting amongst themselves. Walked in and found the silverware dirty. Menu nothing to do cartwheels over lately. Left immediately. If the place is not CLEAN, it is not even worth the thought of going. Used to be a nice place. All they need to do is take pride in the place again. Whatever infighting is going on is going to destroy this establishment. Get your act back together.

We have been here many times over past summers and always enjoyed it. Not this time. Service was poor, server repeatedly forgot to bring a side item, never checked on us. But we were stuck with a mandatory 20% gratuity for a party of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids). Ridiculously expensive ($30 pasta entrees). On top of the expensive entrees, they charge for bread. But the biggest bummer was a strange brown gravy they served as the sauce on 2 different pasta dishes. I still can't figure the sauce out. This was the last summer for Brewsters.

As guests visiting New Buffalo we did not enjoy this restaurant at all. We were told the wait would be an hour and a half hoping that it would not take that long. It took the full 90 minutes watching people being seated after we had already been in the bar waiting. We ordered pasta and it literally ended up being pasta from a box SOAKED in oil with NO sauce for 23 dollars EACH. Biggest waste of 2 hours of vacation ever, the only good thing was the bartender who was extremely friendly. If you want over priced Olive Garden quality food, knock your socks off.

Okay, first things first, a new name is required. We are taking votes. Brewsterelli's or Brewsteroni's? Four of us arrived about eight thirty on the Saturday night of memorial day weekend, there was an hour and quarter wait for a table (indoor, longer if you want outside). So just be prepared. There was a table in the bar area for us to wait at, but only drinks and appetizers are served there. We ordered two beers, two diet cokes, one order of spinach artichoke dip and one order of the artichoke bruschetta. We were a little disappointed that the bruschetta and dip had the same flavor note. But, I have to tell you, the spinach artichoke dip was outstanding! It was pretty much the hour quarter wait that they promised and we were seated. Our seating area was freezing. They have an open kitchen and I know it must be hot there but seriously this was cold. So since we had snacked on the delicious appetizers while we waited for our table we weren't that hungry any more. We each ordered a build your own pizza. They were delicious but each one was large enough for two people to share. I had a spinach, mushroom and chevre pizza. It was very good. If I go back, I would like to go hungrier and give the "dinner for two" a try. It looks great: You each begin with a House Salad, then you'll Split a two topping Pizza, followed by your choice of one of this evening's Entrees. Cookies and Coffee are included for Dessert. We walked by the cookies in the case and they look amazing. Wish we had been hungrier.

We were driving from Chicago to Battle Creek and needed a lunch break. How fortunate for us that we came across this wonderful restaurant. Between the four of us we had sandwiches, pasta and pizza and they were all WONDERFUL!! Service was amazing, all the breads and cookies were outstanding. So sad that we live in So Cal!! Thank you for a great lunch!!

This place was terrible. Waited over an hour for a table when we were told 30 minutes. Service was super slow and food was not great for the money. The final straw was that they ran out of cookies by the time our slow service made it to dessert which was the one thing we were all excited about.

Hit or miss with the service. Ok pizza, crust is thin and usually burnt on the edges. Amazing salad dressing, and good environment.

So overpriced for mediocre food. Goddo service, cheap drinks, but $28 for a chicken dish in Michigan?! You pay less downtown Chicago for way better food. Very disappointed.

Since the spaded dog burned we looked for someplace other than Redamak's to eat lunch. It's not that we don't like Redamak's, we do. But we just wanted something other than burgers. Brewester's was it and I'm glad we came. It was a beautiful fall day so we ate outside. There where more people outside than inside. Great outside tables, and I like how the inside seating is in smaller areas with maybe four to eight tables. I saw four or five areas like that. So much better than one big open space. My wife had a cheese pizza that wasn't on the menu. She liked it and ate it all so I didn't get a chance to try it. She got the soup but didn't care for it. It was too spicy for her, but she doesn't do spicy. It was at my upper end of spicy too but I loved it. I wanted to eat it all but we where looking forward to the cookies that we read about in some other reviews. I got the steak sandwich which was as good as a steak sandwich can get. I got the salad, they only have a house dressing that was just okay. I would rather pick the dressing. But with a good ranch dressing it would have been real good salad. Ice tea was real good too. They have Coke products which I don't care for. Looked like some good drinks from the bar but we where on the motorcycle so I passed on a drink. We don't get a dessert often but since it was late afternoon this was our dinner too. And we read some reviews about the cookies and wanted to try one. We got the chocolate chunk to split. It was just a cookie, maybe 3 - 3 1/2". It was good. I make better and bigger cookies at home. I was thinking it would be a huge 7-8" cookie fresh made still warm, but it wasn't. Just a cookie. I was really hoping it would have been like a Pizookie from BJ's in California. I wish I could find something like that in the Midwest. I would easily give Brewster's five stars if they had Pepsi products and a choice of salad dressing. I can't wait to go back and see what is on the dinner menu.

The "dinner for two" was so well-priced a good friend and I couldn't not do it. In Chicago you'd be lucky to get a menu for what they were charging for a salad or soup, pasta, pizza, coffee and dessert. It was like $32 or something. I actually asked the waitress "Is that price per person?" She laughed at me. That was fair. The pizza was outstanding. The pasta seemed a little bland in comparison. Honestly, my friend and I were full from the salad and pizza when the pasta came. The second course was almost over-kill. I assumed we'd also share dessert. Instead, we each got to choose a cookie. Now granted, I have a small head. I wear kids hats. But still...each cookie was the size of my head. And it was dreamy. And even though I was already puke-full I ate the damn thing. I ate it. I ate it and I'm not ashamed. Try this joint.

Had the BEST time here last weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. We decided to get out of the city for the weekend and enjoy the small town of NB,MI. Lucky for us the Inn we stayed at was right across the street from Brewster's. From the time we walked in to the time we left we loved everything about this place. Their outdoor sitting is pretty and romantic with flamed heat lanterns and red umbrellas. They have this awesome "dinner for two" for $32. This included dinner salads, 12in wood fire pizza with two toppings, a main course (which can increase your final cost depending on the meat/no meat you choose), and coffee with dessert. We ordered a pepperoni pizza with garlic -AMAZING!-still looking for a pizza this good in Chicago, and the beef tenderloin that was cooked perfectly with the right amount of pink. We left happy and full to say the least! The service was outstanding as the waiter was attentive but not annoying and his recommendations obviously on par with what we liked as a couple. I will be going back to NB just for Brewster's!

I always go and get the 2 person meal special they have everyday. The tortellini dish, however, is hit or miss. Sometimes it's great and fresh, others it's dried out and tastes like leftovers. Other than that, everything has been great! Wonderful wine selection and great martinis!

Fan-freakin-tastic!!!! Ok first of all, we sat outside.....love LOVE LOVE the patio!!! Its a beautiful and romantic little setting with tons of trees and flowers! We waited on a Saturday night for approx 15 minutes (arrived approx 515ish), they were not busy inside, but to sit outside was a wait we were totally willing to wait for! Gave us an opportunity to grab a drink at the bar. Bartenders were very nice, friendly and answered any menu questions as we were perusing. We ordered crab cakes and they were decent. There was a "dinner for 2 option" for like $32, slight up charges for certain meals. We went with the margarita pizza & the Classico. This meal deal comes with soup or salad, I had the house salad, which the dressing was to die for, my friend had the tomato soup, also to die for. Bread was served along with fresh grated cheese. The pizza came, it was decent, we ate as much as we could in anticipation for the Classico. Then it arrived.....all I have to say is OMG, this could quite honestly be the best Italian dish I have ever put in my mouth!!!! We ate it all, our stomachs were saying no but our mouths were not going to listen! Then we got coffee and 2 huge cookies, of which again were so flippin good we didn't stop. Service was superb! About this time I went to the restroom to find the place fully packed to the gills and people all over waiting to get in, so worth the wait, and the price was even better. I would go back in a heart beat if I lived anywhere near here. The kitchen is open you can see them cook, all of the food that everyone else had looked amazing, there is a entire area where the cookies are stacked hi and look fresh baked for the day. All I can say is this place, from start to finish was absolutely off the hook!

I have a lot of good things to say about this place. When I went in tonight, I thought the bartender and the waitress were fantastic!!! I'd go back just for the good service. As far as the food, it was ok...nothing really special or great. Also the inside of the restaurant feels somewhat cramped. I would return.

After spending a couple of hours on the beautiful New Boston beachfront, my friend and I (still somewhat covered in sand particles) were starving! With not too many restaurants within walking distance of the beach, we decided Brewster's might be our best option! CORRECT WE WERE!!!! Although there were several quaint little patio tables nestled outside, we decided to grab a seat inside the restaurant (largely due to the fact that I desperately needed to charge my phone). The hosts were eager to accommodate us, sitting us next to a table within a couple feet of a wall outlet. Ambiance: The scene was somewhat dimly lit, and our table was positioned where we could get a view of the chefs and other kitchen staff hard at work. My only complaint in this area would be the bathrooms, which could've used just a little TLC (shredded t.p. on the floor, odd smells, etc). Menu/Food: Brewster's changes their menu daily. The day we went, there was an option for a Dinner For 2 which included two entrees to share (one 2 topping pizza and one regular entree), two soups or salads, and two desserts for under $50. Since my "pseudo-vegan" friend and I have very different taste in foods, we decided to order separately...but this was a great deal for those who could take advantage of it! I ordered the filet topped with a crab cake, which was accompanied by mixed vegetables and asiago stuffed gnocchi. PHENOMENAL! My only very minor gripe would be the heaviness of the gnocchi, but overall I was thoroughly pleased. As a starter, I had a creamy soup with mushroom/beef that was DELICIOUS. I ordered a margarita from the full bar which was also perfectly made & well-priced! My friend ordered the grilled fish option (yes this is the same pseudo-vegan previously mentioned), along with the gazpacho soup, and a bellini. She was also thoroughly pleased! Service: Our server, Nicole, was excellent! She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and made sure to come back to check on us just enough to make us feel important...but not enough to make us feel overwhelmed. Our food was delivered quickly and accurately, leaving just enough time to enjoy each course without feeling rushed. Overall, we had a FANTASTIC dining experience here at Brewster's!!! On my next trip along the Lake Michigan coast, this will definitely be at the top of my list (well...right after the beach that is).

My parents used to have a house in New Buffalo, MI, so they were my resource for finding a good meal on the way home. My mother said there was no other really good place besides Brewster's, so we exited the highway and prayed for good results. The place recently underwent some expansion, so if you've waited eons for a table in the past, you might have better luck now. It's part deli, part dining room - there are a few rooms plus outdoor seating on the patio. We ate in the sun room, which was pleasant despite the rainy evening. Each kid had a personal pizza, we ordered the Dinner for Two (house salad, a regular two-topping pizza, choice of pasta or entree, cookies and coffee - $31.95!) and were very pleased. We had the Margherita pizza which had a terrific thin flaky crust. The entree rocked our socks off - italian meatballs & papardelle tossed with gorgonzola cream plus broccoli florets and artichoke hearts. The meatballs were obviously hand-made, giant, and delicious. Plenty of delicious food and a little the next day even. Service was absolutely spot-on perfect. I would happily drive the 90-120 minutes to dine here again.

My GF, who had been to Brewster's roughly 3-4 years ago spoke highly of their food and suggested we stop in here for dinner on our little getaway in NB. During the late summer we decided to sit in their outdoor patio area which is absolutely beautiful!!! It took longer than expected for our server to come around, which was rather surprising since it wasn't overly crowded. The dinner menu was shockingly small for an italian restaurant; being from the Chicago area one gets used to a vast selection of dishes on dinner menus. Sometimes smaller is better, but not here. I tried the Classico which was a bolognese served over pasta, and the server couldn't even confidently state what style of pasta was with the spaghetti and meatballs. I should have seen the red flag being raised right there. When the food arrived I began to mix up my dish and noticed a rather large pool of water at the bottom of the dish; I'm traditionally used to the sauce sticking to the pasta with limited sauce/water at the bottom. The pasta itself did appear freshly made and was tasty, but the bolognese itself was rather bland and tasted like it was made with knock-off Ragu from the jar. Only being able to eat a little bit after being turned off I was hoping dessert would rescue the visit. Another red flag went up when I couldn't locate cappuccino or espresso on the menu...nothing beats a hot cup with dessert right!? Our server comes to clear our plates and asks how everything was, and I responded I wasn't impressed and had better (roughly 2/3 of my food was still on the plate). Her response was a confused sounding "okay" as she took it away. So the tiramisu again came highly suggested to so we decided to order that and split it. Red flag #3 goes up as they bring it out as my GF's eyes look like she'd seen a deer in her headlights...the tiramisu wasn't on a plate but served in a large wine-style glass...WTF!? It looked tasty but looks are surely deceiving...it was overloaded with the cheese layer and the top and bottom layers were hidden and you had to get after it with a parfait ice cream spoon. Very untraditional italian-style dessert presentation. Perhaps the least amount of time spent at an Italian style restaurant. Enjoying a cappuccino or espresso complimented with a great dessert should help offset the food coma that approaches from a delicious pasta dish is all part of the experience. Not happening here. Even my GF said her past experience was nothing short of spectacular and something must have happened since then to cause such a swing in their overall service. If i was just passing time for lunch or looking to close out an evening with appetizers and a few glasses of wine while enjoying the outdoor patio I'd come here, but dinner was a complete dud. Think twice before trying Brewster's for dinner but I'd recommend the outdoor seating if your just looking to relax with a few glasses of wine and an appetizer. The outdoor patio is the only thing that saved me from giving them 0 or 1 star.

My husband and I were in the area for our one year anniversary and we had such disappointing experiences with food in the area until we visited Brewster's our last evening there. The best is the dinner for two package - you must get this! You get so much great food for such an amazing price. We each had a house salad (amazing dressing), the quarto formaggi pizza, the parmesan crusted fish with spinach risotto, and the coffee and cookie at the end. We had so much left over as well. I must say the coconut/macadamia nut/chocolate cookie was the best cookie I've ever had! A little disappointed with the spinach risotto but everything else was great.

Excellent food,Limited menu but that's probably what makes them good at what they do . The Pizzas were great, I had Sausage, onion, pepperoni and pepper, it was outstanding. Service was great , our server hustled and was very cordial and attentive . We went there because we couldn't get into another restaurant that is close to the bridge .. Stray dog...best move we made!

My girlfriends and I couldn't decide between 3 and 4 stars for this place and it seems the average is exactly 3.5 stars too. We were actually waiting for our turn at another dining venue, walking around town, and found their patio very attractive. We then put our names down on the waitlist here, went and canceled at the former, and waited hungrily but patiently. We sat, of course, out in the patio garden and really enjoyed the ambiance a lot. We enjoyed the food and service a little less. The place is vegetarian-friendly (soups and salads included), which was nice for us as all 3 of us are vegetarian. We tried the tortellini and the artichoke dip. The server actually messed up our bill, gave us someone else's credit card receipt to sign, and actually ended up charging our bill on yet someone else's card! Then she vanished forever so all the tables had to wait a very long time to send someone to locate her and then sort out the mess.

Spent a few days in New Buffalo with friends and came here twice. Both times, we were thoroughly impressed. The meals that I had were all delicious - especially the Roma pasta (my lunch) and the salmon (dinner). My wife and I ordered the Dinner-for-Two option, which was well worth it. We were pleasantly surprised upon receiving our check. The cookies for dessert were particularly good - I was eyeing those the whole night! The only complaint was the pizza: nothing special, very plain. Very cozy and warm ambiance, attentive and pleasant servers, and reasonably priced overall. Will recommend and return next time through town.

Brewster's Italian Cafe. I have to admit I hesitated because I found the name to be an oxymoron. A well respected Yelper's mixed review also gave me pause. Apprehensively, I decided to take a chance anyway. And I've lived to tell. I imagine Brewster's gets pretty well packed during peak season. We were there during the tail end of the off season, so we were able to be seated after only one wine at the bar. We opted for the dinner for two thing with the salad, pizza and entree for $33. The salad was a plate of dense mixed greens. I picked at it and found not much therein of interest outside of the croutons. The pizza was that light type of pizza with the crunchy crust. Not bad. The entree, I believe, was a pork thing with a side of a stuffing type deal with truffles, which was strangely good. Brewster's is fun, cozy, relaxed and not a bad deal. I'd go back in the off season. Go drinking at Casey's and/or Stray Dog afterward.

Let us begin with the lovely patio I wish I could've sat in but the weather did not favor my vacation. I appreciate a business owner who pays attention to detail, from the dancing flame patio heaters (so chic) to my companions cocktail pic made to look like slivered glass to hold his blue cheese olive. These are expensive yet details overlooked by the endemic of penny pinching restauraneers that plague our society. We were greeted by the owner and what looked to be her daughter acting hostess this busy weekend evening. We're already off to a good start. We had no reservations and relish long meals so we gave our name and took a seat at the bar, which onlooks from a glass enclosure the beautiful patio of which I spoke and began our evening with an antipasto platter with whole muscle cappicolla, genoa, salami, pickled baby red bells, pepporchini and here is where it gets good, sage infused white cheddar, smoked Gouda and a salavat? Mmmm... Once seated we are in perfect sight of their open kitchen which provides transparency and a passion for your business. I'm in love. They do offer a prix fix for 2 at a hugely affordable rate for what you get but naturally, we need it all. I indulged the gazpacho which was ok, my companions the salad with a great immulsified house dressing, then onto the filet encrusted in Gorgonzola. True Gorgonzola, not blue. A pistachio crusted Halibut, a bit strong in flavor for halibut but the rice that it was paired with was a risotto style sundried tomato and yum. Back to the beef, the portion for the price was enormous. The flavor of the beef was soo..mild and because the price was so affordable it couldn't be grass fed. Certainly a choice, possibly prime cut. Good job. I prefere a bit more sear, but that is difficult to do when you order rare beef. Sorry, there was no room for dessert, I rarely indulge. For the price, the food far exceeded expectation and if you are in New Buffalo and are not looking for a beach Booz party, Brewsters is the place.

After receiving multiple good reviews of Brewster's from friends and seeing a number of positive reviews on Yelp, my wife and I tried it for dinner on a recent Friday night we were spending in New Buffalo. We got there at about 7:30 and were pleasantly surprised to find that they could seat the two of us right away. We sat in the "atrium" which was where the bar was. Its a nice open and light room with a nice warm fireplace located near our table. That certainly helped us deal with the unseasonably cold weather. We ordered the dinner for 2 special - 2 soup or salad, one entree, one pizza, and cookies and coffee for desert. We both had a chicken soup to start which was pretty good. We then had the margarita pizza which was OK. The flavor was pretty good but the crust was pretty dry and flat. Next came the roasted chicken served atop risotto and asparagus. Unfortunately aside from the asparagus none of the components were cooked well. The risotto was undercooked (the rice wasn't particularly soft) and the chicken was overcooked. The cookies for desert though were very good - chewy on the inside but just a bit crispy on the outside and very well sized. On the positives the service was very good, they had a decent beer list (and coming from Chicago I was thrilled to be able to buy a pint of Bell's for $4, the space is nice, and its in New Buffalo so there aren't a ton of options. Should I be in New Buffalo for another weekend, I wouldn't necessarily rule out another trip to Brewster's, but I wouldn't be rushing there for dinner either.

ideal restaurant to dine at when visiting new buffalo. the positive yelp reviews attracted us and did not let us down! we were going to go with the pairing deal 'dinner for 2' but opted to go a different direction due to the wait. we were told it would be about an hour and 20 minute wait for a table which was no problem. so we entered the bar area and found 2 chairs relatively easy (seemed couples were able to get 2 drinks each and an appetizer until their table was ready) we really tried to hold out so we could do the dinner for 2 but the couple next to us with their spinach and artichoke dip, and then the couple next to them with the queen margherita changed out minds. glad we went that route, dip was amazing as were the cocktails at the bar. we were given the choice to dine in the bar area or take a table. we chose the table and it was a good choice. dining room is a different vibe and more of a date feel to it. next round we ordered the salad and then split a margarita pizza (added pepporoni). the wood oven was churning out pizzas left and right and they were the real deal. we have been in search for a legit pizza and this was the closest thing to the pies we ate in rome. stop in here in you are visiting new buffalo. i wish i had a place like this in my hood.

Unlike others who recommended it, our experience was the worst we have ever expereinced in luncheon dining. I asked if my entree had any cheese and wa told no. Well it did and I can' t tolerate cheese. In addition the salmon on this entree was overcooked, dry and tasteless. I could not tolerate eating it. Lunch ruined. My dining companion does not like flavored iced teas, but was never infomred that hers was. Strike two on the waiter. After all of this the final strike was that the bill looked like an accountant's spreadsheet with numerous debits and credits, because the waiter had overcharged us for our beverages, but never informed us. When I asked the manager to forgive this bill, she would not.....stirke three!! Whe said they rarely have complaints. Well sorry, STRIKE THREE!! What a horrible way to even remotely expect we would ever return. We will tell EVERYONE we know about this terrible experience. (By the way this is the first time I have ever rated a restaurant because my experiences elsewhere have never even come close to this.) Shame on you, Brewsters's!

We stayed in New Buffalo across the street from Brewster's. We visited this restaurant on a weekday night and were quickly seated inside near the front. Some have said the interior seating is poor, but I would call it rustic Italian chic. We really enjoyed the tables and chairs. The service was fine. The food was excellent, and you definitely get a lot of food for your money. We ended up with three extra lunches out of the deal. For those of you choosing an Italian restaurant in the Harbor area, we prefer Tosi's in Stevensville due to the cool atmosphere.

Good service. Ashley, our server, was good. Bartender was good. Ambience was good. What was AWLFUL: the pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got the pizza first as an appetizer, thinking that since it was "supossed" to made in a wood burning oven and because we had heard good reviews of it, it would have been good. NOT!! We were starving and ate the first pieces. The bottom was completely white and moist/soggy and the mozzarella was the gooped on heavy thick white. They do not use fresh mozzarella. They use some shredded cheap cheese that was in a plastic container we later saw in the "open kitchen" upon exiting the establishment. We also saw the sauce next to the mozzarella in the plastic container next to the cheap cheese. The sauce was very dark & thick, not fresh light bright red sauce and tasted worse than Ragu'. We sent the pizza back in disgust and they made a new one for us but it was just as bad and our server, Ashley, even mentioned to us that the Chef, "She had some problems". The bottoms were never darkened. I never eat it, but this was worse than Domino's pizza. Although, we never eat it, we thought it was Di Giorno's. We had no more confidence and left and had a burger around the corner. This pizza was disgusting!!! We took it back to the hotel and threw it in the trash!!

I LOVE BREWSTERS!!! I could eat here every single day if possible! There lunch menu changes daily, and their pasta with chicken tends to be my go-to selection. Every time I've ordered the pasta with chicken has been amazing. The salad is also really good and compliments the heaviness of the pasta. The pasta and salad come out together. On top of that, you also get bread, olive oil, and fresh parmesan cheese! Simply lovely! My co-workers have also raved about their steak salad and salmon salad. I have to try it one time, but I just can't say no to pasta!

Perfect little restaurant. Food. Service. Ambiance. We were in town for only 24 hours, but decided to eat here twice. Drop this place in Asheville, SoCal, Portland, etc., and it would hold its own.

During our 4 hour drive home from a wedding, for lunch we wanted more than drive thru fare. After a quick search on Yelp we chose Brewsters and I'm so glad we did. Great wine list, really nice atmosphere, totally kid friendly. The balsamic dressing on the house salad was perfect. Loved the huge shreds of parm cheese to go with the bread. The pizzas were so delicious, some of the best pizza I've ever had. I'm so glad we found this place. Oh, and don't forget to get a cookie :)

Whenever I find myself in Harbor Country, a stop at Brewster's is an absolute must. An Italian place called "Brewster's"...weird, right? Fear not - great Italian eats await within! Consider: a creative menu with fresh ingredients, a spring green salad served with a herbal house dressing I could drink through a straw and a wood fired pizza margherita that is fresh, light and marvelous. The house Chianti by the glass is as good as most premium Chiantis I have had. On the downside: half of the dining area is new, the rest is a mismatch of hideous frescoes and garage sale furnishings. Wait times during the peak summer season range from maddening to impossible. If you can overlook the tacky portion of the dining area and long wait, you are in for some excellent dining from the Italian restaurant with the unlikely name.

On our weekend trip to New Buffalo we ended up going to Brewster's twice. Oops, fat kids. After trying the "Dinner for Two" on Friday night, we came back for another delicious dinner on Saturday. We started with the house salad that had a delicious balsamic dressing. This was followed by a pizza of our choice:first night the margherita and second night sausage with giardinera. The giardinera one was our favorite:it was spicy and flavorful. As for entrees go, we had a steak with asparagus the first night and the bf loved it. However, I loved our seafood with linguine we ordered the second night waaaay better. It had calamari, mussels, shrimp and clams. We finished our meal with some delicious cookies. Be sure to try the cookie loaded with everything as its heaven in your mouth!

I come here often and almost ALWAYS get the calzone with side salad. They often serve them with meat, but since I'm a vegetarian I just ask for the veggies I want and their glad to accommodate. Great service, nice to sit in the bar area with skylights and fireplace or seating is available outdoors with beautiful hanging plants for ambiance. TIP: They have punch cards for lunch, so make sure to ask for one and carry it with you ALWAYS. Enjoy!!!

Good food. Okay service. Our streak of getting a table by the bathroom continued. We've been here many times and always set in the quiet, nice bar area which has a great atmosphere. This time we were in the loud, plastic furniture filled main dining area. Plus we were right in the path of servers going out of the kitchen to the bar. Anyway...you can't beat dinner for two. You share a pizza, entree and then end with a couple of cookies. All for $32. Food was good and probably makes it worth a trip back.

I feel kind of silly writing a review for here because there are so many reviews already. I've come here since it opened, and rarely have I been disappointed. Eat outside if you can. The courtyard is so lovely, the fountain is calming and plants are well taken care of. They replaced the cheap plastic tables a couple of years ago with more solid tables, they are worthy of the lovely garden setting. Eating inside is a challenge because it is so cramped and loud when it is really busy. The food portions are generous, you will most likely take home some. The prices are on par for the area, which, since it is mostly Chicagoans who go here, they will find it quite acceptable. Is it worth a long wait? Well, considering what is in the area, yes. Put your name in, do some shopping, then go back. Menu changes daily, which is a good thing. Kids meals are awesome because you can actually add things to it, like three meatballs. That's not on the menu, you have to ask for it. So the kids menu item became something bigger for my tween, who can't eat a full adult meal yet, it was just right. We do order take out from there from time to time ... they always get it right!

We had a wonderful time at Brewster's Italian Cafe over a vacation stay in New Buffalo. While starting off with cocktails, My mojito (only $6!) we looked at the menu. We saw a great deal for $32 for two people. The deal included two house salads, a full pizza to share, an entree, and two cookies with coffee! Obviously that is a lot of food, but it was such a great deal that we knew we could take food home for later. Although they have call ahead seating 30 minutes before you arrive we still had to wait about 30 minutes once we got to the restaurant to get seats. It wasn't that big of a deal because we just went to the bar and got a drink while we waited. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area!

I came here for lunch and ordered soup and salad. The gazpacho was wonderful and their balsamic dressing for the salad was great! I was very happy with the service. After lunch, I ordered cookies to go and they were delicious also! Great experience!

As soon as we walked into Brewster's last weekend, we were hit with the most disgusting smell...a kind of rotten cheese odor. I initially chalked it up to just poor ventilation in the kitchen, but once we sat at the bar to wait for our table, I knew there was something seriously wrong with this place. I asked the waitress what was up with the smell, and she looked at me with total understanding. "I don't know what it is, but it's terrible," she said. "It's worse in the back. I don't know how people can eat here." After sitting for about 10 minutes at the bar, I noticed fruit flies all over the place. We decided to leave as I was practically holding my breath by this time. Raunchy, dirty, disgusting. Skip it.

My boyfriend and I ate at Brewster's last night while on vacation in New Buffalo. We wanted to have a nice dinner for our last night in town. We arrived at about 8 on a Wednesday night. We waited for our table for about half an hour which was a little odd since it was a week night and it was so late. We tried to ask to eat at the bar area and they informed us that only apps and drinks could be served there. Once seated, we waited quite a while for a waitress to greet us. Our waitress ended up walking past us about 3 times before actually greeting us. When we finally had the chance to order, we ordered right away. We ordered the dinner for 2 special. This special offers: bread with fresh Parmesan and oil, a house salad for each, a flat bread pizza to share, an entree to share, and a cookie each and coffee to complete the meal. The salad was mediocre. I did like the dressing. The salad was very basic though, just a plate of mixed greens. The salad definitely could have used a tomato or two. We chose the margherita pizza for our pizza selection. This was very delicious and featured mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil, and oil. The pizza alone was a bit filling after the salad. Then, we had the "Roma" as our entree. This entree was tri colored tortellini, roma tomatoes, oil, reggiano cheese, and fresh herbs. This entree was very delicious and had a great taste (my boyfriend definitely agreed as he was trying to force me to eat more even though I was so full!). The cookies for dessert were mediocre. My boyfriend had the oatmeal raisin (which I did like) and I had the peanut butter (which was the equivalent of a cookie you might get from a school bake sale). I was not pleased with our service. Our waitress seemed very disinterested in us and did not strive to make us feel very wanted in the restaurant. She stopped by all the tables in our area and chatted and genuinely wanted to know how their meals were. It seemed as though she could care less about our experience. Once, she dropped the bread at our table and immediately turned her back to us. The atmosphere is appealing and has a romantic setting. I would have liked to sit outside on the patio, but with the time, we just wanted to take what we could get! The price was decent for the amount of food we got. The special was $31.99 for the above mentioned food. All of the restaurants in the area are rather expensive. So, this is a moderate price for the amount of food you get if you would like to go out for a nice meal with your significant other. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking to have a nice dinner while in town. However, I would be sure to make a reservation if possible and cross your fingers that you do not get the waitress we had!

I no longer live near Brewsters but everytime I visit family in the Midwest I make the drive up to New Buffalo to eat at Brewsters. Sometimes this is a 4 hour drive...lol The food has always been wonderful. I particularly like the turkey sandwich, pizza, and tortellini. Service has always been friendly and they have the best balsamic dressing I have even eaten - I wish I could buy it to take back home to California.

With the onset of summer and keeping my boat in New Buffalo this year, we Yelpers are going to start seeing some of my traveling reviews!! I've enjoyed others' input on the mellow resort town, so hopefully I can be as insightful... It's a bit unfortunate I'm starting out with not the most stellar of reviews, and I don't want to deter anyone from trying Brewster's (the food was extraordinarily yummy), but my experience there was a bit of a turn off.... Brewster's is located right off the main drag in New Buffalo and really stands out as a place that looks like it could easily be your new favorite summer restaurant. Big outside patio, lots of hanging plants and flowers, twinkle lights all in a pretty package of a quaint brick building. Once you step inside the foyer is lovely with little wrought iron tables and traditional italian decor... since Brewster's doesn't accept reservations you can wait out your table here or in their beautiful glass atrium with full bar, wait staff and more cute tables. Ideally, I would have eaten outside but with the 90 minute wait we opted for "first available" and took a table in the candlelit atrium where we ordered a bottle of San Giovese, antipasti platter and kept our fingers crossed for patio seating. The crowd in the atrium/bar was nicely mixed and I eagerly awaited my meal as I saw fantastic looking pizzas and pastas float by me to the patio. That was until the host came to let us know our table was ready inside (DAMN!!) and off we went to the "main dining room". This is where things went South... Could my eyes be deceiving me??? Am I in the employee lounge??? The inside dining area is made up of about 10 plastic (the kind you would have out by your pool if you were a real cheap-o) tables and chairs, dirty floors and a deli take-out counter. Don't get me wrong, I have NOTHING against a casual laid back atmosphere, but given the appearance of the rest of the restaurant this just made no sense and really brought my excitement about eating there down A LOT. To top it off all of the servers hung out behind said deli counter (being loud of course) and take-out customers were constantly hovering around our table waiting for their orders with their asses in our face. Ick. At that point the romantic outdoor patio was a zillion miles from this and I just wanted to eat and leave - quickly. The food was quite good... we had the gnocchi with vodka sauce and a margherita pizza, both were very tasty and came with salads as a starter. Their gelato, cookies and desserts are made on premise and looked absolutely fabulous but I didn't stick around Brewster's long enough after the check to find out. So to sum it all up.... if you are going to wait that long to eat here in the first place, hold out for the patio seating (or come on a less crowded weeknight). Save the inside for take-out or picking up some biscotti and cookies to go and leave the butt show for the less informed!!!!

If Redamaks is too casual and you want something nicer---Brewsters really hits the mark. Think gourmet Italian with a focus on fresh, flavor, and terrific yet casual service. Highly recommend the Margherita salad. Wonderful presentation, excellent flavor, and enough for two. You will not be disappointed with the pastas or soups----the Minestrone soup is excellent and the pasta with shrimp, cherry tomatoes, and shitake mushrooms was one that we raved about. If you are fan of wood oven pizzas, you will be in heaven. Several to choose from, ours hands down favorite is the Margherita. Excellent flavor and cooked perfectly. Cannot wait to go back!

If you are looking for a good, Italian style pizza in New Buffalo then this is a great place. It is super casual - yes a little tacky with the "I am in Italy decor" but honestly really quality ingredients and a friendly staff make it worthwhile. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here - but when in town I think it is a great spot!

Amazing food! Been there twice and everything from their salad dressings, pasta, pizza, and cookies are exceptional! The atmosphere is wonderful as well. I love all the old pictures on the wall. Only downside is a lot of kitchen noise (plates stacking and banging of dishes) if you sit near the restrooms. Service is awesome. Thinking about hosting my rehersal dinner there. And can't wait to see what its like in the summer season with their outdoor seating. Will always make a point to go there when in NB

This is a lovely town gem. The food is fine. Pluses: the location (in downtown Buffalo-- a few blocks from the beach). It is open year round-- not just in summer vacation/ weekend home peaks. It is has huge outdoor patio and that is perfectly comfortable to enjoy for a lazy afternoon lunch. The staff is very pleasant. They make everything feel easy and never rushed.

It's been too long since I have actually eaten a meal here to review their food, but I love their walk-up/take-out beverage counter. We have been coming to Brewster's for 15 years. The food is consistently good. Be sure to sit at the wine bar while waiting. The wait can be terrible (I cannot figure out why they don't increase their seating into the bar area for dinner) and it's near impossible to score a desired outdoor table. (In fact, my husband and I once again scored the worst table in the house - this one nearest both the bathrooms AND the kitchens. Out dinner was peppered with yells from the wait staff, "coming through!," "86 the white chocolate" and the like.) Our waiter however was quick and kind. The dinner for two is the way to go - we are stuffed and bringing home leftovers for just $31. Can't figure out why they don't serve local wine but what they do serve is all very good. It's not a summer in Michigan for us without Brewsters!

Oh my GOD. Brewster's is YUM. I get this dish with tri-color tortellini which is weird since I usually don't like cheese-filled tortellini but this is delicious. They also put tomatoes in which is super good when they are in season...if you're going in winter...why the fuck would you be in New Buffalo in winter? Well, I went once in winter en route to Grand Rapids...still good, but the tomatoes were only meh.

Granny adores this place so I always eat here at least once while visiting. Granted, I'm eating with a lady who enjoys runny spaghetti sauce.

This place is tough to review, as there is not a lot in the ways of good eats in the area of LaPorte/Michigan City/New Buffalo. Even with this in mind Brewsters is very bland and lacks originality. It is almost tacky inside with the over the top Italian theme they have going on. I guess their claim to fame are the pizza's they make, which are good. Although it is kinda hard to screw up a pizza, so thats not really saying much. The pasta dishes I've had are always very dried out, most likely from freezer burn. Salads are usually good though, as they seem to have decent produce. On a Friday or Saturday night you will likely be waiting upwards of an hour + for a table during the summer months when the little town is full vacation renters. During winter it is much easier to get a table. They do have a very nice beer selection and a decent wine list which for me is a plus. During the warm months they also have a nice patio to sit out on. If Brewsters would cut their prices down a bit to a more reasonable rate It would be a start in the right direction. Also, get rid of the plastic tables and chairs. You expect people to pay the prices you have while seated on damn lawn furniture!

Nice place, particularly the outside tables, which are fairlr private. We arrived about 6:30 on a Friday and were seated quickly. We shared the "specialty salad, which was basic lettuce with a tastey berry vinaigrette, cipollini onions, pistachios, and a small piece of seared tuna. The fish was nice a pink inside. We also split the margherita pizza, which has a very thin crust and lots of fresh toppings. The pizza was a bit too soggy towards the center. The highlight of the meal was a berry tiramisu. It was both rich and fresh tasting. Overall, this was a good meal for less than $50.

I came in for the day from Chicago. I had not had a authentic Italian meal in the city that compared to Brewsters. Great staff, fresh food and amazing all around. I left feeling completely satisfied and would definitely go back in my next visit to New Buffalo. This place is fantastic!!!

Brewster's is such a wonderful restaurant. The "dinner for two" option is such a good deal and the food included is incredible. The pizza (we usually get the specialty or choice) is fresh and original, and the entrees never cease to amaze. Love the white chocolate macademia nut cookie and the coffee is supreme. Generally, the meal is treat to all the senses and I look forward to my next opportunity to eat there.

Brewster's is one of our favorite places to go to in New Buffalo, Mi and for that matter all of Southwest Michigan. It seems to always be busy and always is good. We like the special wood fired pizza special that has a salad, pizza and drinks. Place is a typical homey, neighborhood Italian Café with service, food, and atmosphere good. Have never had a bad dish on menu, so don't have anything bad to say and also won't put a hole in your budget. Enjoy!

Loved the atmosphere. Good service. The chicken pesto and creme brulee were excellent!

Our experience at Brewster's was average. Not the most welcoming place and it was very loud near the kitchen as another writer added in. The food was priced well and not too expensive for the serving sizes. Sandwiches were average and the soup was over salted. If I had to pick to come back to this place or try something new, I wouldn't hesitate to go somewhere else.

We had a long wait here, almost an hour, but we were told that would be the case. The service was average, bordering on below avg...nothing bad just nothing special. The dinner for two was pretty good until we got to the pasta, it was bland with little to no taste. The pizza was really good, but I would not do the wait for the pizza.

Well done! The menu has just enough for everyone with a nice mix of lunch / dinner entrees. I enjoy the personal pizza choices or the pasta and entree salad options as well. My favorite dining space is the sun-room. The food and service is always top notch. New Buffalo can be crowded during summetime weekends, so be prepared to wait for a table if you arrive during peak dinner service.

LOVE this place...awesome decor and the food was AMAZING. It's right in the heart of downtown New Buffalo but you feel like you are in Italy while inside. The food was so well priced. We got the 2 adults special for like $30 and kids were only $5 to eat! Service was great too!

Brewster's is a cute Italian place in laid back New Buffalo. I liked the décor with room after room containing hanging plants, an outdoor beer type garden, and a cool bar. This is a no reservations policy, so our inn keeper called ahead getting our name on the list. Our party of 4 checked in, were told the wait would be 20 minutes, and we were given a beeper. We were seated 45 minutes later and then the hostess said the server would be delayed getting to us as she just seated another party. On to the food: gazpacho was decent, but mixed green salads had lettuce with brown edges and way too much dressing. Pastas are ok, but portions are much too large.Diners should be warned about this as each of us left half, and we could not take it back to our inn. Servers are young, inexperienced, stressed and understaffed, and no one seems to be in charge. This restaurant is mediocre.

One of my favorite places to eat in New Buffalo. The interior is really well laid out, almost makes it feel like your eating outside they way they set up everything. Drinks specials are strong and pretty cheap ($8.50 martinis). The spinach and artichoke dip with their flat bread was amazing. They use the same style flat bread for their wood fired pizzas. I tried one with sausage and pepperoni and it was superb, I even brought back the left over slices to the hotel, which I normally never do. Overall this place is a great value, we had apps, entrees, drinks a plenty of it still ended up less than $100. We'll be back to try it out again this summer.

I love this place. The food is fresh and wonderfully seasoned, the portions are generous and the price is right. The "dinner for two" includes two small salads, one pizza, one pasta, and two cookies and coffee for dessert. You'll have to wait in line on summer weekends (no reservations) and this is the only place I'll wait for.

A great meal with a very good menu. Tried the "dinner for 2" choice which gave us each a salad, brick oven pizza and then an entree. We had the chicken with white wine sauce on risotto. Cookies and coffee are included. The decor is very rustic and well done. Had to wait a bit, but you can't blame the restaurant for that one. Service was good and friendly. Not quite enough dressing on the salad and the risotto was not perfect, but this is a good find.

My husband and I stop in here once or twice a year and we always have a good experience. We always order the $32 deal: 2 salads, 1 pizza, 1 entree, cookies and coffee and so far we haven't been disappointed. We normally sit at the bar and find it to be plenty comfortable.

I like Brewsters. I like the atmosphere. I like how it looks at night with all the lights twinkling. I even like the food. They have a special, sharing dish for two. You each get a salad, you share a pizza, and you have coffee and a cookie, all for about $30. I think this is a bargain in New Buffalo. It does get crowded because it caters to a crowd that comes on the weekend to their summer homes. I've been there when it has been packed and I've been there when you can get right in. I don't think the old world Italian decor is cheesy - I kind of like it. We've always had good service and the food is more than enough to share.

We've been going to Brewster's since we first discovered them back in 2001. What we've discovered over the years to having a great dining experience here : - We go to Brewster's when we're in the mood for a relaxed, leisurely dinner in a casual atmosphere. - If you get the deli seating area, ask for a table in the elevated section toward the street side as these are real tables and chairs, and you avoid the 'take out' crowd around the deli counter. - Avoid the New Buffalo/ Union Pier area during the high tourist season; if we go during the summer months, we usually try to dine on an off-night like Tuesday or Thursday. This is also when they hire additional temp wait staff to deal with the increased traffic, which would probably explain why one of the reviews mentioned bad wait service in the summer. - Main entree portions are huge! expect to take home leftovers. - Do the 'Dinner for 2' option : it's a great way to sample their food. We can never finish the pizza appetizer or the entree and always end up taking home 2 boxes. The one pet peeve that I have was during a recent visit when we were seated in the bar area and closed the place down - as it has seemingly become the accepted norm in casual restaurants, the wait staff started their cleanup routine 1/2 hour prior to the official close as we were still eating our main entree. I didn't mind the emptying of ice bins, but it wasn't that pleasant to smell ammonia cleaning fluid while we were trying to enjoy our meal.

Maybe my expectations were low.Let's just choose a place with decent food/prices so we could get to our 8:00 show at New Buffalo Center for Performing Arts (another review, but barring that, go!) We stopped in earlier while cruising the NB shops and were told to check the menu out on their website as it wasn't ready yet. Delightful Amy said to call her to get our name on the list once we decied to dine with them. We downloaded menu about 5 p.m., called at 5:15, arrived about 5:30. Got our pager and went to the bar. Nice selection of martinis and wines by the glass. By the time we paid our tab at the bar, our table outside was ready. We asked for outside, but were ready to go inside since we were on a time crunch. Beautiful outside seating. Felt like we were in someone's really nice private garden in Italy. We ordered the dinner for two - $32 each couple (two couples) - a small upcharge for the quattro fromagio pizza (.50) and the steak ($5.00) - but this is the best deal in town! Salads were lovely as was the fresh bread, and really thin bread sticks. Pizza to die for. We had the rib eye and also a tortelinni dish. Yum. Took some home too. The cookies and coffee at the end were a great finish to a lovely meal, and these were not little Italian cookies, but really big and delicious cookies. Great service, and excellent value. Who knew we would have such a lovely meal in what has become this really busy Chicago Tourist Mecca?

Love this place. Food has been consistently tasty, great atmosphere on the patio or in the bar area. Love that they carry local wines. Portion sizes can be large so we often share entrees and get a few of their yummy apps. The wait can be long but honestly, we are on vacation here, who cares? Try the berry crisp-delish.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
